Recommended Roof Rack and Carrier to Carry Porta-Bote on 2012 Lexus RX350 With Factory Roof Rails
Question:
I just purchased a porta-bote and need a roof rack system for my 2012 Lexus RX350. It has the side rails already. The porta-bote is 8 ft-6 inches long, 24 inches wide and folds up to be about the depth of a surfboard. It weighs 68 pounds. I have read the other suggestions but want to make sure I get the right equipment. Thanks so much!

For the crossbars, I really like the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero rack that would consist of # RRVA118B-2 46 inch long crossbars and the # RRSX100 roof rack feet.
To affix your Porta-Bote to the crossbars, I really like the simplicity and ease of use from a simple pad system like the Rhino Rack # RRRWP04. The kit includes the pads that slip over the crossbars to prevent the boat from getting all scratched up as well as the straps needed to secure the boat to the crossbars.
A door step like # RL100660 might be handy to have so you can reach the roof and secure the straps. I've linked to product demonstration videos for the pad style carrier and the door step as well as for the roof rack I recommended.
