Question:

Im looking to get a weight distribution hitch I like the looks of the Reese Steady Flex. I have a 27 foot travel trailer and the specs say its a dry hitch of 400 pounds and a GVWR of 5500 pounds. the Reese had 2 models that have a range that would fit the 66559 and 66560. which would be better

In order to determine which Reese Steadi-flex system is best suited for your travel trailer, you'll need to identify the as-towed tongue weight of your travel trailer. I'll link to an article that explains how to do this. A tongue weight scale like # e99044 would come in handy, but there are other ways to determine your tongue weight, as addressed in the article.

Since a trailer's tongue weight is typically 10-15 % of its loaded weight, you're looking at a maximum possible tongue weight of just over 800 lbs, based on the travel trailer's GVWR. Given that, the # RP66559 which is designed for trailer tongue weights ranging between 500-1000 lbs would very likely be your best choice. In the unlikely event that you confirm your loaded tongue weight as being less than 500 lbs, use # RP66558 which is best for fully loaded tongue weights between 400-600 lbs. The trailer ball isn't included, it's available separately as part # A-90 for a 2 inch ball or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch.
