Brake Controller Recommendation/Installation on 2017 Jaguar F-Pace

Question:

Dose the Jaguar F-Pace, with the trailer package, have the correct connector for the Curt Spectrum Brake Controller to plug directly into?

My research indicates that the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace doesn't have a plug-and-play brake controller connector under the dash. Typically in this instance we'd simply recommend that the brake controller be hardwired using an installation kit like the # ETBC7. However, I've seen a few reports where folks have tried to do this and it hasn't worked correctly and it would appear that a solution has been found.

I believe that your best option would be to use a wireless option like the Curt Echo, part # C51180. The Echo would communicate wirelessly with your smartphone, using your phone as the controls for the trailer brakes. If your F-Pace has a 7-way already installed with an active 12-volt pin, then the Echo would be a plug and play installation. Because the controller completely bypasses the vehicle's electrical system (except for it's power feed) it should work fine for you.

If you don't have a trailer connector, you'd begin by installing the # 118785 and using the # ETBC7L install kit. The kit provides a 4 pole to 7-way adapter that plugs into the 4 pole connector provided by the # 118785. You'd ground the white wire on the adapter to the vehicle frame or chassis and run the black wire to the positive battery terminal via the included 40A circuit breaker.

I've linked to some demonstration videos showing how the controller and the install kit work.
