Replacing Wiring to Electric Trailer Brakes
Question:
My Brother-in-law accidentally got the e-brake cable fouled and it pulled. This melted wiring all the way back to the brakes themselves. The wiring is easy, my question is what parts need to be replaced at the brakes themselves?

Helpful Expert Reply:
If the brakes are not damaged, you can simply re-wire the electric brakes by using 10 Gauge Primary Wire # 10-1-1.
This wire is sold by the foot and you can connect it to the wires on your brakes with the Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 12-10 Gauge # DW05745-10.
If there was damage with the wiring and that damage reached all the way to the physical brakes themselves (and didn't stop at the wiring before the brake assemblies) you will need to replace the brakes. I'm not quite sure what brakes you have so I've added a link to our entire selection of electric brakes for you to check out.
