Can I Use The Yakima Hangover On My Travel Trailer With Non Front Fork Suspension Bikes?

Question:

Im looking for a 6 bike carrier to place on the back of our travel trailer or pickup. The receiver on the travel trailer is frame mounted and not bumper mounted rated to 350 lbs. Couple of questions... - This rack appears to only work with forked bikes with suspension. It does not appear that a forked bike without suspension would fit this rack? Can you provide any insight here? - Your site says this rack will not work with travel trailers. Can you explain why not? - Do you have any other recommendations for a 6 bike carrier? Thanks

The Yakima HangOver 6 # Y02485 is only compatible with fork suspension bikes due to how the top cradle is designed. You place one fork in between the curved and straight coated stud. If you didn't have forks on your bikes they wouldn't be able to hang properly thus making the rack unusable. It also will not work with travel trailers due to the amount of sway that will happen since it's so far back from the axle of the trailer and the drive axle. With 6 bikes and the heavy carrier on the back could result in failure.

The only other way to get 6 bikes to and from the destination would be the Softride Shuttle Pad Tailgate Pad # SR26457. Since you have a pickup truck, this would be best to haul all 6 of your bikes and will be the most cost effective option!

I've included a video of me using the Hangover so you can get an idea of why normal bikes will not work with it along with a video of the Shuttle Pad so check it out!
