Recommendation 1-1/4 Inch Drawbar with 3-1/2 Inch Rise on 2015 Nissan Altima

Question:

I have a Curt Trailer Hitch, product # C11352, on my 2015 Nissan Altima. I want to tow a light trailer for my kayak. What drawbar would you recommend? I need a rise of approximately 3.5 inches. If in the drawbar information, it states, Class II, will that work with my hitch, which is Class l? Thanks P. S. I currently use the hitch for a Thule bike rack. I doubt that info matters, but included it anyway.

We have a 3-3/4 inch rise that works great with your trailer, item # C45023 . It's the Curt Class I Drawbar - 3-3/4" Rise - 11-1/2" Long - 2,000 lbs drawbar.

It is slightly taller than your desired rise. But once the trailer is hooked up, the weight will bring it down closer to that 3.5 inch you were looking for. Also, this drawbar is a Class I which suits your hitch. We have a review video for this product that I've included.

You could use a Class II drawbar with your Class I hitch since it is a Curt. Still, I recommend going for the drawbar above, item # C45023 , as it more closely aligns with your needs.

The rise is usually more important than the length of a drawbar. With the length of the draw bar added to the length of the trailer's tongue, there wouldn't be anything obstructing these two from connecting on a 2015 Altima. The Altima doesn't have a rear-mounted spare tire, an open gate, or any of the other common reasons you would need to take the length of a drawbar into consideration. As such, the Curt drawbar I suggested before will have no problem connecting to your trailer. With a hitch-pin to ball hole length of 9-1/4 inches long, it will clear just about any obstruction you might have on the rear of your car.
