Does 1998 Toyota RAV4 Need to Disconnect Battery if Flat Towed

Question:

I have a 1998 Rav 4, Manual Transmission 4WD. I know it can be flat towed, but if I keep the ignition switch in the Acc Position to keep the steering unlocked, do I need to disconnect the battery?

If your key needs to be in the ACC position so that the steering wheel is unlocked you would need to have the battery disconnected so that it wouldn't drain.

I'd recommend using a Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, part # RM-766. The disconnect would allow you to 'disconnect' the battery with a flip of a switch. When the battery is disconnected, the taillight circuit from the RV will maintain the battery in the towed vehicle (you'll need to leave the running lights in the RV on for this to happen).
