Equipment Needed to Flat Tow 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Question:

I am wanting to purchase a tow bar, base plate, and all the necessary hardware to tow with my RV minus the braking system which I will purchase later. I like the Roadmaster. Just want the best system for my Fusion, but I dont want to over kill and waste money for something that I dont need for this vehicle. Do you have a package deal for this system or can you give me a price for the whole system to get me ready to two. I do know that I will need a brake light system as my existing lighting system on the Ford wont work. So in a nutshell just looking at a great system for my ford Fusion. I do like the sterling, but think it might be overkill. Thanks in advance

We really like Roadmaster products here as well. You'll need a tow bar, safety cables, a base plate kit, a wiring harness, the braking system you mentioned and possibly a high/low adapter. For a tow bar, you can't go wrong with the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, part # RM-522. The tow bar is self aligning and non-binding which means it's easy to connect and disconnect even on uneven pavement even if the car isn't perfectly lined up behind the motorhome. For base plates, I typically recommend the direct connect style like # RM-524458-5. Direct connect base plate kits don't require the tow bar to have the crossbar, which makes hooking up and disconnecting cleaner and easier. For safety cables, use # RM-643.

For wiring, I typically recommend a diode system like # RM-15267. For when you're ready to go with a braking system, the Demco Stay IN Play for motorhomes with hydraulic brakes, part # SM99251 is recommended because of how well it works. If your motorhome has air brakes, use # SM99243. A # RM-88400 relay kit will also be needed so the brake signal from the towed vehicle doesn't override the turn signal.

You might also need a high/low adapter if the 13 inch base plate height is more than 3 inches higher or lower than the height of the receiver on the motorhome. I'll link you to our selection of high/low adapters.

We don't sell a fixed 'package', because there are so many options and variables involved, but I've provided links to all the products I've suggested, where you can see current pricing.
