4-Way to 7-Way Adapter for 2019 Subaru Forester For Installing Brake Controller
Question:
We have a 2019 Subaru Forester with 4 pole flat trailer wiring. The wiring is via a Curt adapter plugged into the OEM harness, dangling inside when not in use. We need to adapt to a 7 pole trailer w/ electric brakes single axle for a 1100# Happier Camper trailer 1500# max towing limit on vehicle, but still keep the 4 pole capability for another small boat trailer. Is this the right part for that or is there a better / more complete kit? Also, which controller do you recommend? Do you have wiring routing recommendations for the existing 4-pole to the multi-connector at the hitch for this vehicle?

Expert Reply:
To convert your 4-way to a 7-way and still have a usable 4-way you could use the part # ETBC7L which does exactly that and comes with needed wiring to install the Curt Echo Mobile brake controller # C51180 which is very easy to install and works great.
You'd run one wire from the 7-way adapter to the vehicle battery and once the Echo is plugged in and synced to your smart phone would be ready to tow with.
