Parts to Flip 2,000 lb Dexter Trailer Axle With Idler Hubs
Question:
Hi, Im looking at ordering this trailer axle 20545I-EZ-72-15 I have two questions. 1. Would this kit work for mounting springs to the axle? And if the trailer was too high, could I use the same kit to mount the springs under the axle? K71-385-00 2. Would this hardware work on this 2000 lb axle even though the specs say it is for 3500 lb axle? K71-358-00

There is a way for you to flip the axles of the Dexter Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs # 20545I-EZ-72-15 you asked about, though the over/under kit you mentioned won't work because this axle is too small in diameter. So while there isn't a similar kit for the 1-3/4" axle tube of the Dexter axle, you can put together the pieces needed, which are the following:
- U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 2,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles # APUBR-10
- Spring Seat for Typical 2,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles with 1-3/4" Diameter # TRSS175
As for the Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Upgrade Kit for Single Axle Trailers # K71-358-00, it will work with a 2,000 lb axle so long as the suspension is using 1-3/4" double eye leaf springs.
