In order to mount your Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 to your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 with the factory puck system, you will need an adapter because the hitch won't fit directly in the pucks as it is not designed for that.

So what you'll need in order to use this hitch is the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6333.

You will simply attach this adapter to the puck system in your truck and then attach your Reese hitch to the adapter and you'll be set.

Another option you may want to consider so you don't have to use an adapter is a new 5th wheel hitch that fits directly in the puck system of your truck, the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C74FR.

I have added links to instructions and video reviews for you to check out as well.

Yes, you can use the fixed Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C74FR in your short bed 2020 GMC Sierra 2500. This hitch will fit the puck system of either the long bed or short bed so your truck with a short bed is absolutely compatible with the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C74FR.

What is a cheaper alternative? Something in Husky?

Cheaper than the Reese # RP30047? I mean we have cheaper 5th wheels like the Curt # C16115 but it has a slide-bar jaw which doesn't sit very snug around the king pin and you're going to get some jerking when you slow down and take off. The cheapest one I'd recommend going with is the A16 # C16120 because it has jaws that wrap all the way around the king pin for a nice solid fit.
