Distance Motor Sits Behind Jack Tube on etrailer EJ-3520-BBX Ram Powered Jack with Footplate

Question:

Hi, I have a year 2000 20foot Mallard TT by Fleetwood. The hand crank jack is failing and I was looking at installing an electric jack. My issue is the distance/clearance from the back of the jack motor head to LP tank cover. On my trailer there is only about 1.5inch of clearance from the hand crank shaft to the LP cover. What is the hang over distance of the motor in relation to the shaft outer tube and is it even with the A-frame mounting bracket as pictured on your site? Also, the trailer is 4000 lb dry. Is this an appropriate lift capacity for my trailer or is it over kill? To summarize: Will this fit on my trailer? Hopefully I have a picture attached to this question too. Thanks

I've attached a photo that shows a similar trailer that a customer sent in that has the same issue and has used the etrailer Electric Jack # EJ-3520-BBX successfully. The rear of the head on the jack only sticks out around 1-1/2" from the tube (it sticks out much more prominently in the front- roughly 4-1/2"), so it will butt right up against the propane tank cover, but it will fit.

Even though it is a 3500-lbs jack and your trailer is only 4000-lbs, it's not really over kill and I definitely recommend going over the tongue weight significantly just to keep from straining the jack. The smallest capacity electric jack we have available would be the 2500-lbs Stromberg Carlson # JET-2500, which could also be used on your trailer, and would definitely not make contact with your propane tank cover.
