Trailer Connector for 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee With Factory Tow Package
Question:
Will the Hopkins wiring kit 41155 fit my 2017 Grand Cherokee with a factory installed trailer package

Helpful Expert Reply:
If your 2017 Grand Cherokee has the factory tow package with the 7-way trailer connector also known as the US CAR connector located behind the drivers side of the rear bumper as shown in the provided photo, the Hopkins # 41155 will work. This being said, I'd recommend going another route. If you used the # HM40975, you'd have both the 4-pole and the 7-way trailer connector. If the hitch you're using already has the trailer connector mount on it, the # HM40975 would attach right to it, otherwise you'd want to use the # 18136 no-drill bracket which would attach to the hitch crossbar, providing a spot to attach the # HM40975.
Also, on some model years of the Grand Cherokee, the trailer connector won't be active once it's plugged in. You'll need to take the vehicle for a quick stop to the dealership to have the computer reflashed to activate the tow package wiring. I've linked to a video showing the # HM40975 being installed on a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
