Which Replacement Dexter 3500 lb Axle To Replace Dexter 3K8874

Question:

I have recently purchased a brand new 6 x 12 utility trailer that has a Dexter 3K8874 single axle installed. I want to add brakes that by the way we purchased from you guys, but we discovered after removing the wheel/tire that the axle does not have brake flanges welded on. According to the specs on the axle, the H.F = 88inch and S.C.= 74.5. I am pretty sure your Item#T3584F-EZ-8974 or Item#T3584F-8974 but you state the H.F is 89inch and S.C. is 74. Can you confirm either one of the Dexter axles you sell would work? If not, do you have a axle that will work? Thanks

The 1 inch longer hub face of the # 35545E-ST-89 works out to 1/2 inch longer on each side, which isn't a big deal at all. That won't cause a problem.

You'll really want the spring centers to be right on, though so the best thing to do would be to grind the existing spring perches off and replace them with new ones tacked in the correct position using part
# TRSS238.

Dimensionally speaking, all three axles are identical. Part # 35545E-ST-89 includes quality Dexter hub/drums and brake assemblies, bearings, races, seals, lug nuts and grease caps are all included. I looked up your previous order, and it looks like you're all set up, so you'll just need the Dexter Ez-Lube # 35545I-EZ-89 axle beam.
