Recommended Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for Tear Trailer Towed by 2018 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I have a Jeep Wrangler unlimited 2018 JL. I will be towing a tear camper. Towing capacity is 3500. Dry weight of camper is about 2000. What might I need to purchase if I want sway control and/or weight distribution? Thanks!

Although the Reese # 83660 friction sway unit you'd looked at would work with many different weight distribution systems as kind of a stand-alone or add-on, I'd recommend using a true combined sway control/weight distribution system like the # FA92-00-0450 e2 from Fastway.
This system is very effective on trailers with tongue weights up to 450 lbs which would be perfect for your teardrop camper, providing both weight distribution to eliminate any sag in the rear suspension of the Jeep and provide proven sway control for a nice, hassle-free ride.
One of the most common knocks against the add-on units like the # 83660 is the fact that you need to disengage or remove it before backing the trailer, because if you jackknife the trailer, the sway control will be bent and rendered unusable. During normal backing, the Fastway system won't require disengagement, unless you're deliberately backing into a jackknife situation (which is necessary occasionally).
I've linked to a demonstration/set-up video where our friend Randy shows how to set the system up.
