Honda specifically states in the Owners Manual that they do not recommend using a weight distribution system on a Ridgeline. Honda states that an improperly adjusted W/D system can reduce steering, handling and braking performance (paraphrase from owners manual.)

Does this mean that a properly adjusted system is okay? Good question. I would recommend checking with your Honda Dealer for clarification. We cannot recommend anything that would contradict the vehicle manufacturer recommendations.

If you decide to use a system, you will need to ensure that the trailer does not exceed the towing capacity of your Ridgeline, which is 5000 lbs if your vehicle is equipped with the tow package. In order to choose the correct W/D system, you will need to know the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer. The weight of anything stored in the truck bed behind the rear axle also needs to be considered as tongue weight.

If the 3000 lb figure represents the fully loaded and ready to tow weight of the trailer, 10 to 15 percent of that figure, 300-450 lbs would be your likely tongue weight figure. If this is the case, I would recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex system, part # RP66558. The system is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 400-600 lbs, which should be perfect for your application. The weight distributing shank is included, but the properly sized trailer ball with a 1 inch diameter threaded shank is sold separately. For a 2 inch diameter ball, use part # 63845 or # 63847 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.

I have linked you to our Weight Distribution FAQ page, as well as an article that describes various methods of determining your ready to tow trailer tongue weight.
