Gauge in Firestone Level Command II Reads Same Pressure After Adding More Air to Air Bags

Question:

When I push the pressure gauge up, the it pressurizes the air helper bags but the needle on the gauge goes back down when I let go of the button, the needle doesnt stay at the pressure I increased it at . I checked for leaks but couldnt find any, is this normal?

It sounds like there is a leak or something mechanically wrong with the gauge. Leaks in an air system can be difficult to find. One way to find then is to rub connection points with soapy water and look for bubbles. A lot of times what happens is if an air line is not cut perfectly straight with a hose cutter like # AL10530, it could leak easily.

If you cannot find leaks and the system seems to be holding pressure but the gauge does not move correctly then you can try connecting a different similar gauge to check if it is the gauge or something else in the system causing the discrepancy.

It is also possible that there is an electrical problem since the gauge works on a 12 volt system. Check the power and ground wires for proper connections. Make sure the grounds are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.
