Why Does Tekonsha Recommend Installing Brake Controllers at Least 12 Inches From RF Sources

What happens if you locate a UHF two way radio closer than 12 inches from the controller?

According to my contact in the Tech Services Department at Tekonsha, keying the mic of a high powered radio placed near the controller can cause the controller to actuate the trailer brakes unexpectedly.
This is why they recommend keeping the controller at least 12 inches away from equipment that generates RF.
