Will the a Tire on Bumper Mount Spare Tire Carrier # TR-1 Clear Trailer Hitch on a 1985 Chevy C3500
Question:
I want to remove the tire carrier from the rear wall of my RV and mount to the bumper. My question is wil the tire with wheel cover installed clear the receiver hitch mounted under the rear bumper or do you have something that is a little taller? This is going on an 84 Chevy C3500 class C Mallard motor home.

That is tough to answer but I think I know how you can figure it out. Take a look at the picture I have included. It has the overall height of carrier # TR-1. From the bottom of the bumper, measure up approximately 15 inches, this is about where the center of the top wheel bracket will be. Then take half the diameter of the tire and measure back down to see roughly where the bottom of the tire will be. This is all approximate but it is a good start.
Another option, if you will not be using the trailer hitch receiver, is to use the Curt spare tire carrier, # C31006.
And yet a third option is to use the Curt carrier with dual purpose ball mount # D210 if you will be towing a trailer. However, when I asked Curt is this was permissible they said that it is but they highly recommend using an anti-rattle device in the top receiver, like # 63232, and a stabilization strap # 18050.
