Weight Distribution for a Cargo Trailer with 200 Pounds Tongue Weight and a 2013 Ford Edge

Question:

I have a 2013 Ford Edge with the factory 2X2 receiver. I am going to pull a Haulmark 6x12 Cargo Trailer loaded to about 2000lbs with approx 200lb tongue weight. The setup without any Weight Distribution Hitch makes the vehicle 2-3inch below level. Iam considering the Reese 350 Mini Lite, is the the best choice? Or should I go with the Reese 66069? And why?

When determining tongue weight you also have to add the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the Edge to the tongue weight of the trailer to get the total tongue weight. I recommend going with a system rated for 250 to 400 pounds like # 66557.

This system also comes with friction sway control and a shank so you will just need to add a properly sized ball like # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch. I have also included a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution for you.
