Roof Rack for 2020 Mazda CX-5 with Factory Side Raised Rails to Carry Thule Hullavator

Question:

My end goal is to fit the Thule Hullavator Pro on to the Thule WingBar Evo 150. I purchased all of the parts in this pack to set up the roof rack system that the Hullavator would be mounted on: https://www.etrailer.com/multi-product.aspx?pc1=TH711200andpc2=TH460Randpc3=THKIT3160andVehicleID=2020110886andHHYear=2020andHHMake=MazdaandHHModel=CX-5 The problem was that the T tracks underneath the WingBar were at the least 39 inches apart. When I placed the rapid podium feet, the minimum distance between the mounting plates as seen in the photo was 44.75 inches and my cars mounting points are 42 inches apart. I purchased the 60 inch WingBar Evo 150 thinking that the 60 inch model would guarantee me the 4-8 inches clearance beyond the feet that the Hullavator requires. The next size down from the WingBar Evo 150 is 54 inches, but will this compromise the 4-8 inches beyond the feet that the Hullavator needs? If so, would a better idea be to try to cut out an additional 1.5 inches on each side of the T track of my existing WingBar Evo, or to just exchange the WingBar for another mounting rail altogether?

Since Thule doesn't run the length of the feet channel on the bottom of the bars all the way across the bar you can't substitute much longer crossbars than what they recommend as you'll run into the issue you described. So the 47 inch bars # TH711200 were too short for the Hullavator # TH898 and the longer 60 inch bars were too long to fit the feet so the best solution is the 53 inch bars part # TH711420 which would give you the clearance needed and will fit. Using the feet part # TH460R and fit kit part # THKIT3160 on your 2020 Mazda CX-5.
