For your application I recommend using the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack # Y02465 for your bikes and then adding the HitchSki Snowboard and Ski Carrier # Y02418 to carry your skis. The FullSwing features a swinging arm so that you can have unrestricted access to the rear hatch area of your MDX without removing your bikes or your skis.
To carry your bike with the step-thru frame you're going to need Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar # Y02531. This attaches to your seat post and your handlebar upright so that you have a horizontal top tube.
Please note that the FullSwing has a 2" receiver so you'll want to make sure that you have a 2" hitch receiver like what comes on the etrailer Trailer Hitch # e98840.
