Using Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount with Anti Rattle Device RM-061
Question:
Some info regarding the set up we have... I have a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum Edition with a factory installed Class 3? frame mounted hitch and Tekonsha Prodigy 2 Electric Brake Controller. GCWR is 10,000 lbs. GVWR is 5,986 lbs. GVW is 5,160 lbs. I tow a Jayco Hummingbird Travel Trailer loaded weight 3,480 lbs. Now some Qs.... Where do we look to get actual hitch Class Rating? Stamped label says 511893KAOA and 10017. What does Convert-A -Ballinch mean for the AMSC2? How does the Anti-rattle device RM-061 prevent sideways movement inside the receiver? Seems like it would only assist with any up or down movement. If I am using the Cushioned Ball Mount AMSC2 and only towing 3,480 lbs, will the RM-061 reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of the AMSC2? I am currently using a Conventional Ball Mount with a paper label printed specs...3/4inch rise and 2inch and 8inch length. V-4. Stamped label on the Ball Mount says.....V-5. KO2. Max load 6,000 lbs. Tongue weight 600 lbs. 5/8inch hitch pin. 1inch diameter Shank Ball. With the Ball Mount in the 2inch position, the Travel Trailer is almost level since the Pathfinder s 1 1/2inch with approx 480 lbs of tongue weight. The 9 1/2inch length will give me an extra 1 1/2inch of Tailgate clearance to the Electric Jack Housing on the Hummingbird Trailer Hitch. The 8inch Ball Mount currently allows for 1inch clearance to the Tailgate as it opens. Will the extra 1 1/2inch of Ball Mount length affect towing characteristics? I hope I have included enough info/specs to assist in advising whether the AMSC2 and RM-061 will be appropriate/helpful for my tow set up. Thanks in advance for your help....I want to make sure my tow set up is safe.

The hitch should have a sticker on it that has a weight capacity listed on it, it sounds like your vehicle and hitch has the needed weight capacity based on the numbers you mentioned. Convert a Ball is the brand that makes the ball mount # AMSC2 which is cushioned.
The # RM-061 mainly locks vertical movement out but when tightened it also prevents left and right as well as in and out movement. It would diminish the effectiveness of the cushioning of the # AMSC2 but since the movement is locked out you'd actually have a smoother ride with it.
The added length of the ball mount would not cause adverse handling characteristics either.
