Replacement Disc Brakes for Tie-Down Engineering Hub With 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern

Question:

Hi, Im looking for help identifying a replacement disc brake kit for my boat trailer. The existing parts are rusted and difficult to identify but I do have pretty good pictures if that would help any. The trailer is a tandem axel from 2006, 5 Starr, model # 5R4700221B1 I believe they are 10 hubs with a 5 on 14 tires ST205/75D14C. The tongue plate reads the trailer as having a GVWR of 5950 lbs and a GAWR ALL AXELS: 2975lbs. The brake flange has 4 bolts. The brake actuator is a Tie Down Engineering Model 70E rated at 7000lbs. Any help identifying a replacement brake kit would be greatly appreciated! Also if youre able to identify a bearing replacement kit. Thanks so much and love your guys products and customer service!

Thanks for the kind words, and based on what you said the over-the-hub disc brake kit that will work is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35D.

This will work with your 4-bolt flange, 14 inch wheels and is rated for 3,500 lb axles so it is the right weight capacity for your trailer with a GVWR of just under 6,000 lbs. The only thing you will want to ensure is that you do have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, as you didn't quite specify that, though it looks like that's what you have. Just to be certain though, you will want to either measure - following the linked help article on measuring to determine bolt pattern - or use the linked printable bolt pattern template.

I have also added a link to a review and install for you to check out of the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35D.
