Brake Assembly for 2003 Forest River Wildcat M26FBS

Question:

I have a 2003 28foot Forest River Wildcat model# M26FBS and I have it stored in another state and I am not sure what size brake assembly to purchase. I know it is a AL-KO electric assembly the trailer gross weight is 10820lbs. I would like to purchase the assembly and take it with me to put it on when I get there, otherwise I would have to make two trips one to get the size and the other to go back and put them on. Thanks

Given the GVWR you provided, your Forest River Wildcat would use a 12 inch brake assembly like the # AKEBRK-6 you'd looked at. I'd recommend you go with a self adjusting brake assembly instead, like part # AKEBRK-7-SA. After installation, you'll either need to initially adjust the brakes, or do several low speed runs in a parking lot to actuate the bakes, about 15-20 times. After that, the brakes will keep themselves in adjustment. The # AKEBRK-7-SA is a qualified replacement for Lippert, Dexter and AL-KO brake assemblies. I've linked to an installation video for you.
