10 Inch Electric Brake Assemblies for Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a 1998 Prestige boat trailer for a 20 foot Crownline boat that i want to replace the surge brakes on to electric. Not sure of the axle load. Can not read info on trailer tag. 10 inch hubs. Hole spacing on mount is 2 13/16inch center to center with 7/16 inch holes. 14inch rims Dual axle. What are my choices for brakes? Would it be good ideal to replace grease seal? Not sure what size or what i would need. Thanks

Thanks for all that info, and the hole spacing you mentioned for your brake mounting flange means you have a standard 4-bolt flange like Brake Mounting Flange # 4-35.

Based on that and the 10 inch drums you have then the brakes you need are for 3,500 lb axles and for that I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA.

These are self-adjusting electric brakes that measure 10" x 2-1/4" and will work with your brake mounting flange and 14 inch wheels. To install them you'd just need the Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies # BRKH10B.

I have added a link to a video review of the brakes for you to check out as well.

In regards to the grease seal, it doesn't need to be replaced unless you are having an issue. To get the right one you would need to remove your hub and measure your spindle with a digital caliper where the seal rides.
