Comparing Hollywood Racks Sport Rider and Curt 4-Bike Racks

Question:

For a 4 bike rack setup, which do you prefer, the Hollywood HR 1400Z or the Curt Platform? Which is the most versatile, functional and has the best/most convenient features?

The Curt 4-Bike Platform Rack # C18087 is a fine entry-level type option for a bike rack, but when it comes to function, durability, and convenience the clear winner is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4-Bike Rack # HR1400Z.

Starting with function and convenience, the Curt uses a threaded hitch pin that you have to deal with to secure it in the shank, while the Hollywood has a very simple handle that you turn which tightens the rack in the shank.

The Hollywood is also much more durable and strong, which is - at least in part - evidenced by the respective warranties of the bike racks. The Curt has a just a 1-year warranty while the Hollywood has a lifetime warranty, which is a significant difference that says quite a bit about the quality of the racks.

Both racks can only be used with tires up to 3 inches wide; although if you have tires up to 5 inches wide Curt offers a Fat Bike Adapter Kit for Curt Platform Bike Racks # C18091. The Hollywood racks does not offer an adapter, but you could just order the # HR1400Z-FB instead that would accommodate bike tires up to 5" wide.

I have added links to video reviews for you to check out of both racks.
