Can Reese Weight Distribution Chain Brackets be Mounted 1 Inch Further Back on Trailer Frame
Question:
With the RP66074 can the snap up brackets be mounted 1inch off center towards the rear of the trailer. I cant move them any further foward because of my propane tanks. I know I could use bolt on brackets but would prefer to stick with the snap up brackets. Thanks

When installing a weight distribution system like # RP66074, you want the chains to hang as straight up and down as possible. There is some degree of tolerance with the position of the brackets. I spoke with my contact at Reese to see if 1 inch back would be acceptable. He stated that they prefer the chains to be straight up and down and move, if possible, items that are in the way to get the chains straight up and down.
The system could still work if the chains were off set up to 1 inch but it would not work as well so it is not recommended because it was not designed to work that way. The other option, like you said, is to use the chain hangers that bolt to the side of the frame, # RP58305.
