Will Wiring Harness 118242 Work on a 2007 F-150

Question:

Hello Experts. My problem is that on my 2007 F-150 with towing package,, the connector that plugs into the back of the trailer connector the one with the hinge cover keeps loosening up. Will this harness be an exact replacement for the one there? Thanks,

The 118242 Ford OEM wiring harness will not fit the 2007 F-150 pickup. The 2007 F-150 has hardwired trailer wiring to the factory trailer plug. You can use the PK11998 replacement 7 pole RV socket to replace your connector at the back of your 7-pole vehicle end connector. This wiring harness will have to be hardwired into the wiring harness that currently provides power to your 7-way connector. You will remove the existing plug and splice the wires from the old plug to the wires on the new connector. The wiring configuration is, Red - Left Turn and Stop - 14 gauge, White - Ground - 10-gauge, Blue - Electric Brakes - 12-gauge, Green - Right Turn and Stop - 14 gauge, Black - Battery - 10-gauge, Brown - Running Lamps - 14 gauge and Yellow - Backup Lamps - 14 gauge. Using a circuit tester, # PTW2993, to test the connections before wiring is a good idea. I have provided links with current pricing to the items mentioned.
