Gooseneck or Fifth Wheel Hitch for a 2011 Dodge Ram Short Bed
Question:
I have a 2011 Ram 1500, crew cab, dual exhaust Laramie with a short bed. On most automatic sliding hitches it states that they will not work on dual exhaust or crew cab. Im confused as to which I should get or, would a gooseneck be best. Does the gooseneck have an advantage or disadvantage?

Typically you will see gooseneck trailers for use in agricultural situations, like horse trailers. And then you will see fifth wheel trailers more for recreational use such as RVs.
I would base what style hitch you get on what kind of trailer you plan on towing. We do not sell any automatic sliding hitches at this time so I can not give you information on why they would not work on your 2011 Dodge Ram.
The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16422-104 that you referenced would not work on your vehicle as it is not designed for your 2011 model Ram. You will want a Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # RP50142-58 as this is a fully custom install rail kit that will work on your 2011 Ram. I attached installation rails for you to check out also.
For a slider hitch I would recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Round Tube Slider # RP30075. This is a great cushioned hitch with a jaw design that will greatly reduce movement of the king pin.
For a gooseneck hitch I would recommend you get a B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit - 30,000lbs # BWGNRK1309.
