How To Install Tekonsha Prodigy P3 On 2016 Ford F-150 With Factory Brake Controller

I have a 2016 F150 with factory installed brake controller. I am having issues getting it to work with my camper brakes. I still have my Tekonsha P3 controller from my last vehicle and I’d like to install it in the 2016 F150 and bypass the factory controller. How easily is this done?

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 can be used to replace the factory brake controller on a 2016 Ford F-150 with the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 22292. That said, you'd need to take the truck to the dealer to have them remove a code which will appear when the above is used. If you are looking for an option that won't require dealer reprogramming then you can use the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 which would bypass the factory brake controller on its own.
