Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2011 Volkswagen Touareg for Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

What hitch do you recommend for this vehicle. We purchased a 2950 lb travel trailer that came with a WDH and sway bars. And now Im seeing that this may not be compatible. Any advice?

We have trailer hitches that fit your 2011 Volkswagen Touareg that have more than enough towing capacity for towing the travel trailer you mentioned like the Draw Tite # 75950 but none of the hitches we offer for your vehicle can be used with a weight distribution system as they were not rated for this application. So you'd still be able to tow your trailer but not be able to use the WD system. For trailer wiring you'd want the part # 118668 which is a custom fit kit for your vehicle and is very reliable.

Since you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
