Does Trailer Wiring for 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Require Running Wire to Battery

Can I plug the dude power into the cargo power outlet instead of running it all the way to the battery for temp wiring job? It’s a leased vehicle

In order to protect the wiring of your leased 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee I have to recommend you run the power wire of the kit to your vehicle battery.

Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need a setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits. This also helps prevent a trailer wiring short from damaging the vehicle wiring as well. If you ran the wire of the # 118727 to the cargo power outlet there's a chance a trailer wiring short would blow the fuse of the outlet.
