What Size Wrench/Socket for Nut of Hitch Ball # A-90

Question:

What size socket will I need to install the #A-90 2foot ball with the 1 1\4inch shaft? I have a 2000 AWD 5.0 Explorer, I just got a Forrest River Wolf Pup RP17 17foot toy hauler. I have a load leveler with round bars. I have installed air shocks and a brake controller. Ill load a 2017 HD FLHXS Street Glide and some gear. I think the trailer weighs only around 3,000 lbs or so. The Harley maybe 700-900lbs. So with some gear, water and supplies I may around 5,000lbs but, Im pretty confident not near 6k. This travel trailer towing is all new to me so, any more expert input you could add would be very much appreciated. Thank you,

Expert Reply:

The socket or wrench size that the hitch ball # A-90 needs is a 1-7/8 inch. As long as the tongue weight range of the weight distribution system you have encompasses the loaded tongue weight of your setup you should be good. Also, be sure to inflate the air bags before setting up the weight distribution.
