What Causes a Gooseneck Trailer To Bounce At Low Speed

Question:

i have a 25 foot gooseneck trailer with 2 7,000 pound axles. All the tires are close in inflation and trailer seems to be level. Its pulled behind a 2017 f250. My question is why does the trailer still bounce around 35 mph?

The most common issues we see causing a trailer to bounce are with load distribution, usually too much tongue weight. I recommend trying to redistribute the weight on the trailer to see if that can then help minimize the bouncing feeling. That said, if you are towing with the trailer empty that could then cause this as well. Some other things could be worn out suspension components.

If the suspension is in order and you have tried to shift some of the weight around, the next best option would be a set of shock absorbers, the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers part # RM-2460.
