Is there a special harness I need for a 97 Dodge Ram with a tow package to hook up a brake controller or does the brake controller plug right in

For your 1997 Dodge Ram with the towing package there is a port under the dash that allows for a brake controller to easily install with the part # 3020-P.
For a brake controller the part # TK63VR is a really great choice. It's proportional and very reliable while being also much less expensive than similar option of it's quality and performance.
