Best Weight Distribution and Sway Control for Chevy Suburban Towing 2,900 lb Camper

Question:

Please provide advice on selecting the appropriate anti-sway device. The primary use for the travel trailer is to travel across the US using interstate highways. The secondary use is to travel on dirt roads to unimproved campsites. Travel Trailer: GAWR, 2900 pounds Approximate dimensions 15.5 Ft. Long x 8.5 Ft. Tall x 7 Ft Wide Tow Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 4x4 Should I use a weight distribution system? If I need a weight distribution system, I am thinking of this product. Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW Item # RP66082 Advantage, I can back up without having to disengage anti-sway device. When I park the trailer at a campsite and drive off, what do I do with the weight distribution and anti-sway system, leave the ballmount attached to the trailer with the weight distribution system? If I do not need a weight distribution system, I am thinking about this product. Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy - by Draw-Tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch Item # 83660 Disadvantage is having to disconnect to backup. Is there some other product I should consider? Thank you,

You are definitely on the right rack to picking out the best weight distribution and sway control when you mentioned the Reese Strait Line part # RP66082. This has a tongue weight range that will match what your trailer has perfectly and has the best sway control that fights to stop sway before it starts. Normally high winds and passing semis would cause you a bit of sway on the highway (where you'll be spending a lot of time) so the dual cam sway control will do a great job preventing that allowing you to relax more on your road trip.

The weight distribution side of this system will reduce suspension sag in your tow vehicle by distributing some of the tongue weight forward to the front axle. This helps improve braking, handling, and over stability.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
