Can Pipe Thread Sealant Be Used to Install Water Heater Anode Rod Instead of Teflon Tape
Question:
Is it ok to use thread sealant vice teflon taoe. I have a slight weep at the bottom of plug.

Pipe sealant or pipe joint compound will provide a stronger seal than the Teflon tape, but many find the tape easier to use, which is why it's so prevalent. If you have a slight leak, the pipe joint compound will do a better job of sealing, but you'll want to examine the threads on the tank and make sure they're clean and in good shape.
