How To Wire the Pollak Metal 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Socket

will hooking this up to the left/stop wire of the vehicle also activate the device eg light if I turn on my left turn signal?

In regards to installing the Pollak Metal 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Socket part # PK12703, the colors mentioned are just a reference and you should use the actual pin locations for proper installation. I have attached a link below with these correct locations. The yellow wire is mostly used for the left stop/turn signal circuit so in which case it would need to be installed on the pin in the 9 o'clock position (facing forward).
