Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2014 Ford F-250 Short Bed
Question:
Hi, I have a 2014 f250 crew cab 4x4 6-3/4’ bed. We are looking into getting a fifth wheel trailer and I know I need to get hitch first. I’m looking at getting an under-mount setup. After looking on your site I have narrowed it down to 3 different hitch set-ups. I’m curious which one is the best? I will be taking the hitch out and storing when not on vacation so I’m looking for something that is easy to install and remove but still strong. Thanks in advance for your help. I recommend using the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W and underbed kit # BWGNRK1111-5W because it's got a little bit higher capacity than the other two hitches you mentioned, which is important since you haven't bought a trailer yet, and the B&W Companion has a dual jaw as opposed to the single jaw heads of the others. At the end of the day, a dual jaw head is going to provide you with better contact with the trailer's king pin, which leads to less rattle and better security when towing-it's just a much better setup to use and will provide you with a better towing experience. I'm also a huge fan of B&W products because of their durability and quality construction and I really don't think I've ever heard of someone being unhappy with one of their hitches.
I've linked a review and installation video of this hitch and underbed kit that I recommend checking out, especially if you're planning on installing this kit yourself.
