Will Thule Motion XT XXL Have Enough Hatch Clearance for Mazda CX-5 2018

Question:

Ive got a Thule Evo Wingbar setup on my Mazda CX-5 2018 and i would like to fit a Thule Motion XT XXL on there. I try to take the measurement for front clearance and im not sure if its going to fit its going to be pretty close. Im writing to you knowing the L or XL would be a better choice but my skis are 206cm long and wont fit in anything else than the XXL. Still, having a roofbox that fits my skis but doesnt let me open my hatch wouldnt be very helpful. So, will the Thule Motion XT XXL fit my Mazda CX-5 2018? Thanks!

The Thule Motion XT 22 cubic foot cargo box, part # TH629906 requires 55 inches of front clearance. To determine if it'll fit on your CX-5, you'll need to measure from the center of the front crossbar rearward until you reach the seam where the liftgate meets the roof (if the crossbars are adjustable, make sure it's pushed all the way forward) If this distance is less than 55 inches, the hatch will hit the cargo box before opening completely. The # TH629906 accommodates 5-7 pairs of skis up to 215 cm long.

The next smallest Motion box would be the 18 cubic foot # TH629806 but it will only take skis up to 200 cm long, so it wouldn't be a good choice for you.

Yakima offers a smaller 18 Cubic Foot Box, part # YA84FR that can carry skis up to 210 cm long and needs only 50-3/4 inches of front clearance, so it might be a better choice for you.
