Can Charge Wire for Trailer Battery Be Ran if Trailer is Using Curt Echo Brake Controller
Question:
I just purchased a camper with electric brakes. Obviously I want to use them and I want to charge the camper battery while towing. To make life easier, I purchased a Curt Echo Brake Controller. I do not have a factory tow package. I already have the 4 pin Curt Harness installed. How do I provide power safely to my 7 Pin to for braking and to charge my camper battery? Is it as simple as running two power lines connected directly from my vehicle battery to the 7 Pin?

If you don't have a use for reverse lights you could run a second power wire from the vehicle battery to the center pin of your 7-way and then on the matching trailer side run that to the battery to charge it. That would be the easiest way to run a dedicated charge circuit to the trailer battery. You'd want to use 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) through a breaker like part # 9510 and you'd be set.
