Running Lights Not Working on an H & H Trailer with 5 Wire Trailer Connector  

Question:

red = inter lights yellow = turn/bake lights green = turn/bake light white = clean ground! brown = running lights everthing else works but the running lights = brown? maybe somewher the brown is pinched as it grounds its self out?

First, use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed to test the brown wire to make sure it is functioning properly at the vehicle side connector. If not, then you will need to troubleshoot the vehicle. On light # 30-92-001 the green wire is the running light circuit, and the black wire is brake light/turn signal.

Make sure the main trailer connector is grounded to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. Do the same for the lights. If the trailer has an aluminum frame, grounding the lights with the main ground may be necessary.

If the issue is on the vehicle, some vehicles have relays to power various functions on the trailer connector. Depending on the vehicle you have it could be missing the relay or have a bad relay. Use the vehicle owner's manual to determine the location of any fuses or relays related to the trailer wiring.
