Distance From Hitch Pin Hole to Bumper on 2020 Honda Pilot Hitch and How to Choose Cargo Carrier
Question:
Looking for hitch for 2020 Honda Pilot. Watched install video for Curt # C13146 simple install. In video the distance from front of hitch to pin hole was given, 4 1/2. Not sure how to use this spec. Will use cargo carrier on Honda. Carrier frame end to pin 2 1/2. Pin to carrier box uprights 8 1/2 . Any concerns with this setup? Will hatch open with carrier in place?

When it comes to the distance from the hitch pin hole to the front of the receiver on the # C13146, it's really just something to use as a reference when choosing hitch mounted accessories. The # C13146 has 4-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper on your 2020 Honda Pilot, so any accessory like a cargo carrier that you're wanting to use, will need to have at least that much distance between the center of the hitch pin hole on the shank to the closest point of the carrier.
As an example, the Curt # C18151 has 9" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded upwards, so it would be a carrier that will work for your 2020 Honda Pilot. It sounds like the carrier you're looking at has 8-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest point of the carrier, so you won't have any issues with clearance on that one either.
