Comparison Between Tekonsha P3 90195 and Redarc Tow Pro Elite 331-EBRH-ACCV2
Question:
I am in the market for a brake controller and I am looking at two of them one is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 code 90195 and the other one is Redarc Tow-Pro Elite code 331-EBRH-ACCV2 I was wondering which one would be a better controller

Let me begin by saying that either controller would serve you very well.
In the way both controllers will operate, the controllers are a bit different. The Tow Pro Elite has a proportioal mode and a 'User controlled mode' which allows the controller to operate in a time delayed mode. In this mode, the controller won't take the tow vehicle deceleration into account when actuating the brakes. You'll set the gain according to how much power you want delivered to the brakes, and that's what you'll get each time you apply the brakes, unless you use the control knob to increase or decrease the power. This can be useful if you're towing a trailer off road, but unless you're planning on doing that, I don't know how useful that feature would be for you. The other key benefit of the Redarc controller is its unobtrusive appearance. The controller itself installed under the dash, out of sight. Everything is controlled by the control knob, which can be placed on the dash or console, wherever you wish. The knob uses a series of colored and blinking LED's to indicate any errors or to tell you which braking mode you're in.
The Teknonsha P3, part # 90195 is a fully proportional controller that would mount under the dash like a traditional brake controller would. The P3 features a full display that warns of any problems in the braking system and indicates which mode you're in at a glance. The controls are well laid out and easy to use. It just plain works, and works well. The controller features 5 storable settings which allows you to toggle between presets that you set up for different trailers or different loads.
So in a nutshell, if you don't mind the appearance of a traditional controller and want something that's easy to use, the Tekonsha P3 would be my recommendation. If you don't care to see a controller mounted to the underside of your dash, and don't mind a little extra time to learn the controls, the Redar Tow Pro Elite would be a great choice. You can't go wrong either way.
For many vehicles, there's a plug and play wiring harness available. If you'd care to reply with the make, model and year of your vehicle, I'd be happy to help with installation details.
