Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS5 Sport LED driving pod lights with brackets. Now these five-inch LED driving pod lights are gonna act as an auxiliary high beam and increase your visibility to keep you safe, whether on the road or on the trail. And as you can see, I do have this light connected to my power source already and what you're currently seeing turned on is one of my favorite features of these lights and that's the backlight feature, but we'll talk a little bit more about that in the next minute or so. I also have this light installed to one of the brackets that it comes with and it does come with the hardware that you're going to need to install this bracket virtually anywhere on your vehicle. And then it also includes the hardware to install the light inside the bracket.

And what's nice about using these lights with the bracket is you're able to adjust the angle virtually anywhere you want it, and then once you have that angle that you're looking for, you'll just simply tighten it down with the hardware there and it will hold that angle. These brackets are constructed of sturdy aluminum, so they're gonna hold up really well for you, so you're not gonna have to worry about corrosion or anything like that. Now as you see, I do currently have this on the green backlight and these lights do feature a selectable backlight with eight different color options. So this is gonna be perfect for adding a little bit more style to your vehicle. I'm gonna go ahead and shut those lights off and I'm gonna see if I can go through some of these colors for you just to give you an idea of what's present.

So you're going to get red, blue, teal, amber, green, purple, yellow and white. And it's gonna be pretty easy to change those colors. On your screen, I've got a photo showing all of those colors in case there was one that I wasn't able to hit. But all you're gonna need to do is turn the power on and off with a switch that's gonna be sold separately from these lights. There's not gonna be any complicated programming with a controller or anything like that.

So that's a great feature that these lights offer. Now going back to our lights, I still have the backlight on, you see that red backlight I do wanna fire up that main beam just to show you the difference there. So again, there's our backlight and then there's our main beam. And lemme see if I can turn this to the wall behind me to give you a view of that beam. So this driving pattern beam is gonna give you enough width to light up a standard road or trail.

This light has a color temperature on that main beam of 6,000 kelvin, so this cool white color is gonna match most of your factory LED lights. These lights have a raw lumen rating of 4800 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 3800 lumens. And these lights have a peak beam intensity of 131,300 candela, so even with my bright studio lights back on, you can see that beam and that light. Now if you don't happen to know, a candela rating measures the directional light output and it's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. But for a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics gives additional information that you can find. So the power draw on that main beam is 2.75 amps and on the backlight it's 0.25 amps. And these lights are designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses which aren't real efficient at focusing all the light where you want it. This custom-designed large TIR optic actually collects and then focuses all the light forward very efficiently. And then instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into this lens surface. So that's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. Typically when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you could lose up to 10% of that light just from it shining through. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're not only, you're not going to lose efficiency, but you will gain efficiency. Now this does include the industry standard integrated deutsch-style pigtail connector. So you'll just plug that at the back of the light, it'll click in securely and then wire up that pigtail. That's how I have this operating currently. We also have two breather patches there that's going to prevent any moisture buildup. And then these heat sinks on the back of the housing will do a great job of dissipating heat quickly to increase the longevity of these lights. Now these lights have been built with high-intensity LED chips. They do feature a durable powder coated aluminum construction. That heavy duty construction will withstand extreme temperatures. Corrosion and vibration testing has been completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And just going over some measurements here, looking at the overall width from end-to-end, we're sitting really close to 5 1/8 inches wide. That's gonna be the same measurement for the height end-to-end. Of course, when you add a bracket, that's gonna increase the height a little bit. So from the top of the light to the bottom of our bracket, we're gonna be pretty close to 5 1/2 inches tall, depending on the angle that you have that light set at. And then looking at the depth from the top of, from the front of the light, rather, to the back of our heat sinks, we're sitting pretty close to 2 3/4 inches deep. Now these lights do draw high current and they do require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you do wanna make sure that you're using wiring that's at 16 gauge or larger. Just going through some of those other colors again, just so you can see. So again, when you have this on a switch, it's gonna be very easy to switch that color, doing it manually, it's kind of tricky.
