What Is the Tongue Weight Capacity of a 2019 Subaru Forester with Curt Hitch
Question:
Hello, I have read that the 2019 Subaru Forester, which i own has a tongue weight rating of 176lbs. The trailer hitch i purchased from you Curt C13409 shows a tongue weight rating of 525lbs. Is it safe to use the advertised tongue weight rating of the hitch as long as I dont exceed the vehicle towing capacity? I guess what I am asking is, is the tongue weight rating purely determined by the hitch receiver or the vehicle frame? Thanks,

Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13409 which is a fit for a 2019 Subaru Forester has a 525 lb tongue weight capacity. That said, the trailer hitch is tested separately of the vehicle so if the vehicle is rated lower that is what you must abide by. This should be listed for you in the owner's manual.
Please note, if you will be towing then you'll also need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118467 and the etrailer ball mount kit part # 989900.
