What is Advantage of Top Channel on Yakima JetStream Bar over Core Bar

Question:

Hi, Im looking at purchasing Yakima JetStream or CoreBar crossbars for my roof rack. What benefit does the t-slot in the JetStream provide as that looks to be the main difference as far as functionality in these crossbars? Thanks!

The top channel on the JetStream bars have the advantage of offering an easier/cleaner way to attach roof rack accessories. A lot of roof rack accessories are now being made to attach to a channel on the top of the bar. The CoreBars are a less expensive and still a really great bar but it comes down to what type of attachment you prefer.

If you let me know what vehicle you have I can help get all of the parts together to install either style of rack on your vehicle.

It looks like there are only a handful of accessories where the t-slot is compatible with Yakima products. Even then, you have to buy kits in addition to the accessories to make them compatible so not only is it a more expensive bar but also makes accessories cost more if you choose to use the t-slot but that's something where the individual will need to decide if it's worth it or not. SmarT-slot kit 1 (p/n 8002122) is for the high road and high speed bike racks SmarT-slot kit 2 (p/n 8003098) is for the Fat Cat and Fat Cat Evo ski/snowboard racks SmarT-Slot kit 3 (p/n 8007356) is for the Off Grid backets SmarT _slot kit 4 (p/n 8004092) is for the Big Catch kayak and canoe mount SmarT-slot kit 5 (p/n 8004094) is for the Top Water Fishing Reel Box. I have all of the necessary components for my vehicle I just need to decide if the extra cost is worth it for the limited amount of accessories unless there are other benefits of the JetStream I am missing.

The integrated channels on the JetStream bars are standard, so it's good to keep in mind that accessories from other brands will work as well, not just Yakima. More and more products are coming out that utilize the channels (and include the necessary components to utilize them).
