Trailer Hitch for a 2014 VW Jetta SportWagen Diesel and 2017 VW Passat
Question:
I sent a message yesterday with a question about which vehicle would be easier to do a hitch install as I have two options-2014 VW Jetta SportWagen Diesel wagon or 2017 VW Passat 1.08T SE. Also, I'd like to know if all the hitches will have the same ground clearance.

The 2" EcoHitch # 306-X7284 for your 2014 VW Jetta SportWagen Diesel takes much longer to install than the 1-1/4" Draw-Tite # 24880 for your 2017 VW Passat 1.08T SE. From what I could find it looks like the Passat tends to have a hitch receiver that sits 3/4" higher on average than the SportWagen so if that's a determining factor then I'd say go with the Passat. We haven't installed a hitch on the 2017 Passat yet so I'm just basing this comparison off of similar model years that we installed both hitches on.
If you let me know what you plan on using the trailer hitch for I can make an additional recommendation for you.
