Is it Possible to Use 5-Way to 7-Way Adapter with Trailer Brakes
Question:
My Tundra is not recognizing that my Boatmate trailer is hooked up. When the connection for the brakes does not appear to be available on the 5 to 7 pin Boatmate adapter. How do I fix this?

Since the 5th pin of a 5-way is not normally the brake output circuit that is why the brake circuit is not active when using a 5-way to 7-way. You'd have to wire he fifth pin of the 5-way to the brake output circuit on the vehicle side and the center pin on the trailer connector.
Or if the 7-way is on the vehicle you'd swap the 5:00 pin with the center pin and then run brake circuit to 5th pin on trailer side.
